3 days and 2 nights of stunning walks and relaxing accommodation
Price $NZ1,390 per person for twin/queen room
Day 1. ISLAND DISCOVERY DAY
Catch the ferry from downtown Auckland to the Island Ferry Terminal. After a quick briefing, we’ll give you maps, trail guidance and a picnic lunch, and you’ll set off.
Choose to walk a challenging 18km or a more leisurely 12km, following the breath taking tracks and trails through our quaint village, coastal headlands, picturesque beaches and bays, past quirky baches, vistas and vineyards, following a mix of coastal paths, bush tracks and quiet back roads on to stunning Onetangi Beach. Stop for a swim and lunch at Oneroa or Palm Beach.
Let your walking host Vicki, (ex super yacht chef) look after you with a delicious home cooked evening meal.
Day 2. TRACKS AND TRAILS DAY
Enjoy a continental breakfast and begin your day along the stunning Te Whau coastal track and through Rocky Bay and Whakanewha Regional Park. Here you cross the heart of the Island forests, Nikau groves, wetlands, regenerating bush and dense native bush.
Today’s walk is 12km, and you may also enjoy the rare birdlife, high tide swimming, optional wine tastings at Batch Winery and unique Waiheke scenery.
Alternatively, for the intrepid, tackle the rural east end, from Passage Rock through Awaawaroa and Trig Hill - 12km including a rope-assisted descent.
Choose to head out for dinner at the fabulous restaurants and cafes along the waterfront - or opt for fish and chips on the beach, a kiwi classic.
Day 3. Coastal Headlands
Today you’ll discover the fabulous coastal tracks of the western end of Waiheke and breath taking views of the some of the most beautiful coastal farms and vineyards in New Zealand. The track leads through serene Te Wharau Bay and around Park Point, and back through historic Church Bay and up to Mudbrick Winery for a celebration.
Today’s walk is around 13km. We will collect you from Mudbrick and return you to the ferry to depart Waiheke at 4pm.
