The Waiheke walking Holiday

3 days and 3 nights of stunning walks, gourmet food and wine and relaxing accommodation

Price from $NZ1,195 per person share double/twin or $NZ1,395 per person* double room with private ensuite and deck.

Day 1. ISLAND DISCOVERY DAY

Catch the 8.30am ferry from downtown Auckland and we will meet you on the Island at the Matiatia Ferry Terminal.

Choose to walk a challenging 18km or a more leisurely 12km, following the breath taking tracks and trails either from Matiatia or from Oneroa, through our quaint village, coastal headlands, picturesque beaches and bays, past quirky baches, vistas and vineyards, following a mix of coastal paths, bush tracks and quiet back roads on to stunning Onetangi Beach. Stop for a swim, lunch and optional wine tastings at world-class wineries Obsidian or Casita Miro on the way and then it’s on to your beautiful, relaxed Island-style accommodation. Relax on the verandah, meet fellow walkers and your host and chef.

Enjoy a 3 course chef prepared meal and local boutique wine.

Day 2. TRACKS AND TRAILS DAY

Enjoy a continental breakfast with local free range eggs and head up toward the lush native bush and gorgeous tracks of Trig Hill, Whakanewha Regional Park and Rocky Bay. Here you cross the heart of the Island forests, Nikau groves, wetlands, regenerating bush and dense native bush.

Choose a challenging loop walk of 20km or a more leisurely 12km loop, and stop and enjoy the rare birdlife, high tide swimming, optional wine tastings at Stonyridge, Te Motu, or Tantalus Wineries, and unique Waiheke scenery.

Return to your lovely accommodation for a great Kiwi BBQ on the veranda with your host and chef. Sample more fabulous wine, fresh local produce and the famous Te Matuku oysters.

Day 3. Big Sky Day

After a delicious breakfast the fabulous ‘Bottom End’ calls. Today you’ll discover the open spaces and breath taking views of the some of the most beautiful coastal farms in New Zealand. Follow the famous Loop Rd out to Man O’War vineyard, historic and magical Stony Batter and sleepy Orapui and Pearl Bay.

Your choice today, either hike the farm road (23km loop, or longer option from home) or enjoy a driving tour of the bottom end with 10km of shorter tracks in the best spots and a visit to an exceptional private sculpture park - both options have a lunch stop and swim and beautiful Man O’War vineyard and bay.

For dinner tonight enjoy a celebratory evening out locally at one of the many fabulous cafes, wineries or restaurants on Onetangi Beach or in the valley of vineyards.

Day 4. Depart 10am

After a leisurely breakfast your host will drop you at the ferry terminal, or alternatively you may like to stow your bags at the terminal and walk the Park Point Headland or spend time in Oneroa village.
